I love coming up with delicious fall cocktails to enjoy in the late afternoon sun (chilly sunny fall weather is my favorite), but with the come of fall it’s harder for me to find excuses to use my liquor of choice, vodka, and instead I find myself tasked with the challenge of incorporating darker fall liquors and finding a way to still make them delicious.

Truthfully, I love a good manhattan. Bourbon is long since been a favorite of mine, and I love a good bourbon on the rocks after a long week at work. But, a majority of my girlfriends are not in the same boat, so for a fun, fall girl’s night, I came up with this spiced apple manhattan. Spicy, sweet, and strong, these spice apple manhattan’s are a perfect simple fall cocktail!

Ingredients (makes 1 drink):

  • Pinch cinnamon
  • 5-6 drops of Peychaud bitters
  • 1/2 oz apple liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz of bourbon
  1. Put a pinch of cinnamon in the bottom of a glass and add the Peychaud bitters. Swirl the glass to incorporate the cinnamon into the bitters and coat the glass.
  2. Add the apple liqueur and bourbon in a martini shaker over ice. Shake vigorously and pour over the cinnamon bitters mixture.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy!
